Is it not one of the most annoying experiences to see your makeup melted off by mid-day? Come on, you have to agree with me. We’ve all been there atleast once, right? (countless times if we’re talking about me) but don’t worry, I’m here to solve that problem, by introducing you to a few simple steps to help keep your makeup looking fresh and flawless all day long. Keep scrolling to see what they are!
Cleanse your skin
This one is pretty much a no-brainer. But it’s so overlooked. Cleansing your skin before applying makeup is really important. It is always best to apply makeup to fresh, clean skin. When you skip this step, all the oils, dirt and impurities left on your skin can cause your make-up to flake throughout the day. Always remember to exfoliate your skin once/twice a week aswell, to remove any dead skin cells and dry patches.
Before applying your makeup, you need to make sure your skin is well prepped. That means, you need to moisturize. And yes, I’m also talking about you, oily skinned girls! For oily skin, use an oil-free or gel-based moisturizer and for dry skin, use a more nourishing moisturizer with hydrating properties. Also try to stay away from rich and creamy moisturizers during the day as these could make your face too slick for the makeup.
Use A Primer
Ah, but do I really need it? Yes you do. If you struggle with your makeup sliding off your face throughout out the day, then you definitely need to invest in a primer. I’d admit, I was never a primer kind of girl until recently (the past year or so) but once I tried one, I was hooked ever since. Primers create a smooth base for your makeup, helping your products to glide on easily, while gripping onto your makeup so it stays put all day. There are many primers to choose from, for almost every skin concern. From mattifying, hydrating, pore minimizing and color correcting. All you need to do is take your pick.
Set Your Makeup
Set your entire face with a translucent or pressed powder. Doing this will lock the makeup in place by removing any excess oils and prevent anything from creasing. If you’re a dry skinned girl like me, you can always use a setting spray instead or on top of your powders for extra staying power.
Use Blotting Papers
If your skin is more on the oily side, chances are you know the struggle of your makeup melting right off your face. All you need to do is blot your face with some makeup blotting papers during the day to help absorb any excess oils. Pretty simple, right? It really works though!
