Bad Beauty Habits You Need To Break

Everyone has a bad beauty habit or two, I know I do, like forgetting to moisturize my skin or wash my makeup brushes (which is terrible I know) but It’s only human, we can’t lead a perfect life all the time, right? Or am I just making excuses for myself? Maybe. I’ve gathered a list of bad beauty habits that you most definitely need to kick to the curb, as soon as possible. Read on to see what they are…

Picking/Popping Your Pimples

It’s extremely tempting, I feel you. But picking/popping your pimples actually makes matters a lot worse. Not only will it most likely cause blemishes, scarring and redness, but it will also force the bacteria into the surrounding tissue under the skin, resulting in more breakouts. So, keep those hands off your face!

Curling Your Eyelashes After Applying Mascara

This is one of the worst beauty habits right up there with sleeping with your makeup on. When you do this, you run the risk of your lashes sticking to the eyelash curler and being pulled out of the lash line. Instead curl your lashes with an eyelash curler while applying mascara at the same time to keep them curled for longer, or heat up your eyelash curler with a blow dryer, wait for it to cool down a little, then curl your eyelashes.

Not Wearing Sunscreen

If you think it’s still okay to skip sunscreen, think again. Exposing your screen to the sun without an SPF can result in sun spots, sun burns, increased wrinkles, and in the long run – skin cancers. Invest in a sunscreen labeled “broad spectrum protection” and a SPF of 15 or greater.

Sleeping With Your Makeup On

This is the number one beauty rule that should never be broken. Sleeping with your makeup on can cause a lot of problems, including clogged pores, bacteria buildup, breakouts and aging skin. Invest in some good makeup remover wipes to make things easier.

Using Dirty Makeup Brushes

As a self-proclaimed beauty addict, I own a lot of makeup brushes, but when it comes down to cleaning them, I’ll honestly admit I’m sometimes terrible at (pure laziness is to blame) If you don’t wash your makeup brushes often, you run the risk of spreading dirt and bacteria to your face, causing clogged pores and breakouts. Besides, using clean makeup brushes is way better for your skin, because it will help to distribute your makeup products more evenly, giving your skin a flawless finish.
