Skincare Mistakes To Avoid

It’s safe to say that it’s everyones dream to have a flawless, youthful and radiant complexion but in order to achieve this, it’s important to have the right skincare regime. On the blog today I’ll be presenting you with 6 skincare mistakes and most importantly – how to avoid them.

1. Not Applying Sunscreen.

Sunscreen is extremely important in your skin care routine. The sun’s UV rays are responsible for 80 per cent of skin wrinkles and aging. Many moisturizers and makeup products offer a built in SPF but it simply isn’t enough to protect your skin from the harsh UV Rays. Be sure to invest in a broad-spectrum sunscreen of atleast SPF 15 or more.

2. Not Removing Your Makeup Before Bed.

We all have those nights where we just want to collapse into bed and sleep and the thought of removing your makeup feels like too much of a task, but sleeping in your makeup is one of the biggest mistakes any woman can make where their skin is concerned. To avoid this – Invest in some makeup remover wipes to make things easier.

3. Not Drinking Enough Water.

Yes, I know. You probably hear the phrase “drink more water” all the time. But I’ll explain why – our skin is an organ, just like any other part of the body. Your skin is made up of cells. Aswell as skin cells, and like any other cell in the body, they are made up of water and without water, our organs will not function properly. Water hydrates and helps purify our bodies including our skin. It also helps to flush out toxins and impurities. It is recommended to drink atleast 6-8 glasses of water every day.

4. Skipping Moisturizer.

Moisturizers are a staple in many woman’s beauty regime. Moisturizing helps to boost hydration in your skin and prevent flaking and dullness. There are several types of moisturizers you can choose from, for all different skin types, just be sure to invest in the correct moisturizer for your skin type.

5.  Not Getting Enough Sleep.

It’s called beauty sleep for a reason. Sleep is vital for a healthy, vibrant complexion. Not getting enough sleep has a huge impact on your skin and can cause all sorts of problems, including those annoying under eye circles we all hate. It is recommended to get atleast 8 hours sleep every night.

6. Taking Long Hot Showers/Baths.

In the colder months like winter where weather starts to shift, we often tend to take hot baths and showers to combat the cold but unfortunately hot water strips your skin of moisture and causes dryness and itchiness. So, it’ll be best to take a lukewarm shower/bath rather than a hot and steamy one.

And there you have it! I hope this post was helpful. Have you made any of these skincare mistakes? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
