Hey everyone! Whoa, it feels like ages since I’ve written a post. I’ve missed you guys. I’ve been taking a little break from blogging since mid-may because I just needed a little time to myself but don’t worry, I’m back… With another review, that is!
Today, on the blog, I’ll be talking about the new matt foundation from Essence Cosmetics. This might just be one of the most affordable foundations I’ve used yet. I’m really normally very picky when it comes to foundations. I don’t mind dropping triple digits on one if I know it’s good, however, if you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, you’ll know I’m a huge lover of the brand Essence, I love a lot of their products. So I was really excited about trying this foundation. Now, let’s jump straight into the review, shall we?
The new all about matt! oil free make-up gives your complexion a matte effect to make it smooth and silky-soft. The long lasting formula lasts up to 12 hours and the oil-free texture would not block your pores. The new addition to the successful all about matt! range comes in a matching cool matt packaging.
The Essence All About Matt foundation comes packaged in a sleek plastic squeeze tube containing 30ml of product. I think it’s the perfect size for travel as it’s quite small in size. I have the shade 15 matt cameo. I honestly thought this shade would be way too dark for me, but thankfully it ended up matching me pretty well.
This is a light to medium coverage foundation, but it’s definitely build-able without looking cakey or streaky. The consistency is very creamy and fluid. Application wise, it’s super easy to blend and apply with a flat top kabuki brush or beauty blender (you can also use your fingers, of course) once blended, it has a gorgeous smooth, matte finish, and feels virtually lightweight and comfortable on the skin. It’s a great product to use if you have oily skin as it’s an oil control foundation. I’m more dry, so I do prefer a more dewy foundation. But on the plus side, it didn’t further dry out my skin.
This foundation claims to last 16 hours. After testing it for a full 3 weeks. I’d say, it definitely doesn’t last 16 hours as it claims. I don’t think I’ve even worn my makeup for that long anyways. It stays for around 6-8 hours with a setting powder on top.
This foundation did fade and seperate around the mouth and nose area for me after the 5-6 hour mark. But this is normally the case with all foundations (if I don’t wear a primer underneath) this foundation also claims to control excess oils, however I’m a dry skinned girl, so I can’t say if it did a good job at keeping the oiliness at bay.
My final thoughts? Honestly, I’m impressed! I didn’t really have high hopes for this foundation at first, but it’s a really great product, considering the price tag. The only downside is that it only comes in 3 shades. So, if you’re one of the lucky few that can find their colour match then I’d definitely recommend giving this foundation a try!
