Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation

Hey beauties! On the blog today, I have a review on the new ever so hyped about Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation. Beauty guru’s all over the world have been raving about this product, saying how amazing it is, so I just knew I had to try it out for myself. I was pretty excited about trying this foundation, especially as it claims to be a soft-matte AND hydrating foundation. Erm, hello, Yes, please! That’s like a dry skinned girl’s dream, and if you don’t know me already, I’m totally on-board when it comes to anything that claims to be hydrating, whether it’s for my face, lips, hands, feet. I need it! So, without any further adieu, let’s get onto the review!

Maybelline claims:

– Maybelline’s Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation is a refreshing gel-whipped foundation that leaves complexion perfected and smooth with a velvety, soft-matte finish while skin stays hydrated for 12 hours.

– Unique gel-whipped formula
Ideal for normal to combination skin, medium coverage.

The foundation comes packaged in a standard squeezable tube with a screw on cap containing 30ml of product. There are 12 shades available in the collection. I choose the shade 10 Ivory which was most suitable for my skin tone as it has more pink undertones.

Let me start off by saying that I’ve been testing this foundation for the past 2 weeks and I can honestly say I love it! Consistency-wise, this foundation is quite thick and has a very whipped, moussey, gel-like texture. I’ve used both a flat top kabuki and beauty blender to buff this foundation into the skin and both tools worked great, and blended seamlessly into the skin, it feels extremely lightweight and comfortable to wear. So, If you’re into the “no makeup look” you’ll love this. It looks really beautiful and natural on the skin which is what I love most about it. It’s a semi-matte finish and a light to medium coverage foundation. It’s definitely build-able without looking caked on. Unfortunately this foundation doesn’t contain any SPF, but that’s not a deal breaker because you can always apply a sunscreen underneath.

I would say the lasting power is pretty good. I had this foundation on my skin for around 8-9 hours until I decided to remove my makeup and I’m happy to report that it held up really well. It did however fade around the nose area for me, but that’s normal if I dont wear a primer underneath. Bare in mind that I always set my face with a powder to help with the longivity of my makeup. I think this foundation will be suitable for all skin types. I have normal/dry skin, and I wouldn’t say this made my skin feel more ‘hydrated’ as Maybelline claims but I didn’t experience any further drying on my skin, which I was extremely pleased about.

My final thoughts? I’d definitely recommend trying this out for yourself! I love the fact that it feels extremely lightweight on the skin while providing a decent amount of coverage and it’s super affordable too!
